MUMBAI — Five of the cast of Bollywood telenovela, Kumkum Bhagya, who were scheduled to travel to West African country Ghana have all been denied visas to Ghana.
The cast, who as part of their visit, are to attend a special dinner with fans later this week were not given reasons for their visa denial.
An insider at the Ghana Embassy in Mumbai who spoke to our reporter on condition of anonymity said that a group of actors from Ghana’s ‘Kumawood’ petitioned the Ghana Ambassador to India to deny the Indian cast visas to Ghana.
According to the spokesperson of the cast, Ali Kumesh, the Indian Foreign Ministry has been engaged to intervene in the visa application process to enable the actors and actresses travel to the West African country.
A spokesperson for the host company, a TV Station, in an interview rendered apology to the disappointed fans, adding that they are liaising with the Ghana Embassy in India in ensuring these Indian stars arrive in Ghana smoothly on a later date. She assured the general public, especially fans that new dates would soon be announced for the dinner and concerts.
